General Foreman
We are seeking an experienced General Foreman to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating building site operations to ensure projects are delivered on time and in a safe manner while being within budget. The General Foreman will manage and mentor Foremen, Supervisors and teams across multiple trades, driving performance, quality and integration across all phases of the project.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead, direct and coordinate the work of Foremen, Supervisors, Tradesmen, Subcontractors and SMMEs.
- Translate the master programme into daily and weekly work plans and monitor progress.
- Oversee multiple trades including structural, finishing and fit-out works to ensure seamless integration.
- Enforce health, safety, quality and environmental compliance across all zones.
- Conduct inspections and consultant checks while ensuring readiness for the client and lead handovers.
- Review progress, productivity and cost reports from Foremen and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Manage labour, materials and plant to achieve production targets efficiently.
- Identify and resolve coordination, sequencing and quality issues promptly.
- Coach and mentor Foremen and Supervisors to build leadership capacity.
- Maintain professional communication with clients, consultants and internal management.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 (NQF 4) with Supervision or Civil Construction Training.
- Experience: Minimum 10 years’ relevant site supervisory experience in building projects. Proven experience coordinating multiple trades (structural and finishes).
Advantageous:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction (NQF 5).
- 5 years at Senior Foreman or equivalent level with experience in large-scale, client-facing building projects.
